St. Matthew School K-5 Admission Policy

Registration, Tuition, and  Fees

• Tuition for the 26-27 school year is $6800 
• Tuition will be covered by the Choice Scholarship for Indiana residents. Proof of residency will be required.
• The enrollment fee of $200 per student or $250 per family will be due with the signed Participation Agreement.
• Registration is complete when the school office receives the enrollment fee, the signed participation agreement, and the signed Choice Scholarship paperwork.

  
Those families who do not qualify for the Choice Scholarship due to Illinois residency or who cannot pay the enrollment fee should contact the school office for the parish financial aid packet.  This packet is due to the school no later than May 1st.


Pre Registration
Pre Registration for incoming kindergarteners and new families will begin at the open house which is the last Thursday of January.  The kindergarten class will be capped at 22 students.  Priority Registration closes on March 20th. 


Admission Policy
Applications are accepted prior to the pre registration deadline in the following order:

1. Active members of St. Matthew Parish who have siblings who attend the school.                                                                                                        *Active parishioners demonstrate a commitment to parish life by weekend Mass attendance and by contribution of time, talent, and financial support.
2. Active parish members who have students enrolled at St. Matthew Child Care Ministry
3. Other active parish members..
4. Siblings of students currently enrolled at St. Matthew School
5. Students enrolled at St. Matthew Child Care Ministry
   
   
6. Active members of other parishes
7. Non-Catholic families

Applications are accepted after the March 20th deadline on a first come first serve basis.

Students transferring from other schools must meet the following criteria.

• Parents and students will tour the school and interview with the principal.
• Transfer records from the previous school including, report cards, I-Learn & I-Read scores, IEP, behavior records, birth certificate, immunization records.
• Signed release to speak with the administrator of the previous school attended.
• Additional academic testing if deemed necessary.

These items will be reviewed to determine whether the program at St. Matthew School will meet the educational needs of the student.  An interview with the parent and student is part of the admission process.





    To secure your enrollment for St. Matthew School for the 26-27 school year please follow the following steps.

• Families currently enrolled in CCM should turn in the signed participation agreement and the enrollment fee to the school office to secure your child’s spot in kindergarten by March 20th, 2026.
• New families to St. Matthew School must follow the link below to complete the online application, turn in the participation agreement, and the enrollment fee to the school office to secure your child’s spot in kindergarten by March 20th, 2026.
• ALL families should turn in a copy of your 2025, 1040 tax form as soon as possible to the school office to initiate the Choice Scholarship paperwork. Enrollment for the 2026-2027 school year is complete upon the receipt of the signed Choice paperwork, the signed participation contract, and the $200 individual or $250 family enrollment fee.

Preschool: Our preschool building underwent a major renovation recently! Our preschool, often called "CCM" or "Child Care Ministry," is located on the block across from the front entrance of our church- at 423 Walnut Street. Call us today to schedule a tour- 812-838-1995.

You do not have to be a parishioner or Catholic to attend either the preschool or K-5 school. Our families come from a variety of backgrounds and faiths, and we welcome all!

St. Matthew School K-5 : Our main entrance is located on Mulberry Street. Enter through the front door, and push the button on the right wall to ring the office. Our staff will greet you at the door. We'd love to give you a tour and answer any questions you may have about our school. Your children are welcome to join and see where learning + a lot of fun takes place each day. 

We have folders ready for families to pick-up with all the information you will need to make this important decision, and there is no obligation to make that choice quickly.
